Norfolk Bluebell Wood Burial Park

As many of you will know, at Norfolk Bluebell Wood, we believe in doing what we can to support the work of charities. Since the Park opened, we have supported a different charity each year in a bid to raise awareness and contribute to their fantastic work.

For 2018/19 we wanted to try something a little different so, we let our Facebook followers choose the charity we would support for 12 months. In February, we announced our three shortlisted charities and asked our followers to cast their votes. It was a narrow decision with the Teenage Cancer Trust revealed as the winner and we were thrilled with the result.

The Teenage Cancer Trust started 24 years ago, growing from the dedication and passion of a group of women which included Life President and founder Myrna Whiteson MBE. In that time, they’ve learnt a lot about what it’s like to be a young person with cancer and the unique, emotional, physical and practical needs that comes with a diagnosis. When the Teenage Cancer Trust opened in 1990, specialist cancer care for young people didn’t exist. Since then, they have opened 28 units and there are teams of expert nurses and youth support staff in NHS hospitals across the UK offering the best care and support possible.

Every day, seven young people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK. Teenage Cancer Trust has grown to become a global leader in the field of cancer care for young people and its pioneering model is admired the world over. Thousands of lives have been transformed by specialist care and as it continues to grow, more lives have been touched in the process.

“Teenage Cancer Trust is delighted to be chosen as the charity partner for Norfolk Bluebell Wood. We look forward to working together raising money to fund our vital work. Teenage Cancer Trust is dedicated to ensuring no young person faces cancer alone. Seven young people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They help young people and their families deal with the many ways cancer affects your body, mind and life.”- Judith Anderson, East Anglian, Regional Fundraiser Teenage Cancer Trust.

Throughout 2018/2019 all the events Norfolk Bluebell Wood hosts and attends will be an opportunity to raise money towards this fantastic charity and the great work that they do.

Events will start with our Bluebell Walk Open Days on 21 & 22April and the following weekend 28 and 29April. Everyone is welcome, along with dogs on a lead. Refreshments will also be available between 10:00 and 4:00pm.
