The People's Awards
Association of Natural Burial Grounds
The Code of Conduct of the Association of Natural Burial Grounds requires members to provide families arranging funerals with them an opportunity to complete a NDC Feedback Form which is returned directly to the Natural Death Centre headquarters. We receive dozens of these forms every week, the vast majority praising the burial grounds and the people involved. Any concerns or complaints are instantly responded to and reported back to the ANBG member concerned
These awards are different to any other kind of assessment of green cemeteries, they are not about how sustainable each site is, the facilities that are available or the way the land is managed; the People’s Awards are all about the people involved, the level of service they provide, the personal touches and the impact that each natural burial ground manager has made on the families of those who they have helped to lay to rest.
The Woodland Trust
The woodland trust oversee Phenology which is the study of seasonal changes in plants and animals from year to year, such as flowering of plants, emergence of insects and migration of birds and was conceived by Robert Marsham who owned the Bluebell Wood as part of his Estate in 1708.
The Diamond Jubilee Woods were planted in 2012 in conjunction with the Woodland Trust to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. This project exemplifies the ambitions we have for the park, to create new habitats of British native woodland for future generations to enjoy.
Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management
The ICCM was founded in 1913 and since that time has provided policy and best practice guidance to Burial and Cremation authorities, its Corporate members. It represents its Corporate members at government level.
The ICCM is a provider of accredited education and training opportunities for those working within the bereavement services, its Professional members.
The aim of the ICCM is to raise standards for bereaved people through the promotion of best practice, guidance, accredited training and education.
Norfolk and Waveney Mind
Norfolk & Waveney Mind is a mental health charity that believes no one should have to face poor mental health alone. It provides a wide range of services to help the local community including mental health support, safe spaces, talking therapies, recovery programmes and training.
The charity is funded locally and relies on community donations and corporate partners. We are pleased to have raised around £15,000 for the charity over the last 10 years
The Aylsham Agricultural Show Association Limited
We have won the best in show exhibition for three consecutive years and have been principal sponsor since 2019.
The country’s biggest one-day food and farming event.
Over £1million pounds has been raised for charity since 1946.
Aylsham Show is a traditional one-day agricultural show which takes place at the stunning Blickling Park near Aylsham on August Bank Holiday Monday. It is organised by The Aylsham Agricultural Show Association Limited (AASA)
The Rural and Industrial Design and Building Association
The Cedar Hall at Norfolk Bluebell Wood Burial Park in Hainford (just North of Norwich) took first place in the ‘Public Services’ category at the Awards Ceremony which took place on Friday 15th March 2019 in Nottingham.
Norfolk Bluebell Wood’s (NBW) intrinsic design requirement was that the buildings aesthetics were to be tranquil and blend in with the immediate environment. In order to achieve this extensive Cedar cladding on the exterior elevations were chosen to blend with the surrounding woodland. These materials were complemented with solid oak joinery for all glazing and doors.
To reduce the carbon footprint of the construction, Norfolk Bluebell Wood worked closely with local professional design teams and tradesmen, sourcing 95% of all materials from local builder’s merchants.
The judges felt that this project adds value to the local community by offering families a tranquil venue to spend time with loved ones.
Norfolk Carbon Charter
The Carbon Charter Panel approved our accreditation at the highest level Gold. One of only 114 businesses in the UK.
The Carbon Charter Gold Level requires you to meet all requirements of the Bronze and Silver Levels and, in addition, demonstrate you are a Net Zero Leader.
The Carbon Charter looks for demonstrable for evidence you are committed to Net Zero and champion the agenda to others. The evidence will vary depending upon the size and nature of the organisation, its activities, and how it plans to reach Net Zero.
Norfolk Wildlife Trust
We have been protecting and restoring Norfolk’s wildlife since 1926.
Today, Norfolk Wildlife Trust manages over 60 nature reserves and other key sites for nature across the county. With the help of our supporters, we create, maintain, and protect habitats which nurture a thriving variety of wildlife, including some of Norfolk’s rarest species. We are dedicated to inspiring more people to connect with and take action for nature; through visiting our nature reserves, volunteering, or joining us as a member.
Broadland & South Norfolk Business Awards
The Business Awards are an annual event held by Broadland and South Norfolk Councils to celebrate the achievements of their local companies, which are the heartbeat of the districts’ vibrant local economy.
Businesses based in the two districts were invited to nominate themselves for an award and residents in the two districts were once again asked to nominate their favourite retailer and their favourite pub.
South Norfolk Council’s Cabinet Member for stronger, greener economy, Lisa Overton-Neal said:
“These awards offer us a chance to congratulate our local businesses, highlight their huge success and recognise the hard work of everyone involved. Our Business Awards are just one of the many ways the Council is supporting our fantastic business community.”
Broadland District Council Cabinet Member, Martin Booth said:
“We have a wide variety of businesses operating across both districts, from huge multi-nationals to one-man bands, in sectors as diverse as food and drink production, retail, insurance and tourism. It’s these businesses and the determination of the people behind them, that help our economy to thrive. This is a welcome chance for them to get the recognition they deserve.
